NCWood began in 2020 in a small workshop in Baia Mare. We work with one material: oak that grew for a century, sometimes for millennia, before it reached our hands. Every board is chosen for its grain, joined by hand, and finished so the wood keeps its life at your table.

Old oak remembers
An oak stands for a century before it becomes a table. Its rings record every dry summer and every hard winter. We keep that record visible: no veneer, no imitation, only the tree as it grew.

Obtaining the wood
This trunk was found meters below ground while excavating the foundation of a house. We sent a sample to a university in Hungary for radiocarbon dating: the wood is over 5000 years old. Every table cut from it comes with its carbon 14 age certificate.

Making the table
The trunk is sawn into live edge slabs and left to dry slowly on stickers. Only then does the work of flattening, joining and finishing begin.
The finished product
A finished table made from the 5000 year old wood. The top is sealed in a clear epoxy finish that protects the ancient oak while keeping every grain line visible, set on a sculptural steel base.
